Log4J config not configured correctly

Unable to debug HTTP 500 responses, possibly because logging is not configured correctly on the server, based on the following lines in the tomcat log file:

log4j;WARN No appenders could be found for logger (StackTrace).
log4j:WARN Please initialize the log4j system properly.
