Why Element/Matrix?

We are using Element/Matrix instead of alternatives (like Slack, IRC, and Discord) for the following reasons.

Matrix is

• fully open source and standards-based
• continually evolving new features like voice chat, spaces, and even 3D interactive environments
• relatively easy to join
• accessible via a web browser and native clients (Android, iOS, Linux, Mac, Windows)
• home to an active community of other channels
• federated, so we can communicate across other networks
• end-to-end encrypted for security
