Multi-Select Dropdown sidebar is always empty

Hello,

I followed the instruction for the first variant (single column multiple select) and I managed to make the new Multi-Select Dropdown menu item appear in custom tools, but when I use it, nothing appears in the Multi-Select Dropdown sidebar.

I tried with and without selecting some text cells, to no avail.

Could you give more detailed steps and/or show a GIF/video to demonstrate usage?

Google Sheets update: multi-select dropdown is now native, so I'm just using the native checkbox now.
