Bioinformatics Hub at the ASMS 2018 Annual Conference

Overview

The Informatics Hub is a place where informaticians gather together with three aims:

  1. to provide their advice, knowledge, and support to anyone with a relevant question;
  2. to discuss current issues and challenges in mass spectrometry informatics with the entire community;
  3. to work on interesting, synergistic projects and to freely exchange tools, algorithms and know-how with each other, across all labs, seniorities and levels of experience.

Main Meeting

Bioinformatics Hub Schedule:

The Bioinformatics Hub will be located at the Poster/Exhibit Hall, next to the main entrance. It is open each day during exhibit hall hours.

We have arranged discussions about special topics for certain time slots. There will be two facilitators to kick off a discussion with a "for and against" debate to start things off, followed by open mic discussion. The topics and facilitators are list below:

Monday June 4:

  • 10:30-12:30 Searching for PTMs: DB search vs. spectral library search (w/ Alexey Nesvizhskii & Nuno Bandeira)
  • 12:30-14:30 Proteogenomics (w/ Kelly Ruggles & Sam Payne)

Tuesday June 5:

  • 10:30-12:30 Data-independant Acquisition (DIA) (w/ Hannes Röst & Brian Searle)
  • 12:30-14:30 General Q&A

  • 10:30-12:30 Big data (w/ Juan Antonio Vizcaíno & David Tabb)
  • 12:30-14:30 Quantitation: Spectral counting vs. intensities (w/ Mike Washburn and Oliver Kohlbacher)

Thursday June 7:

  • 10:30-12:30 Spectral libraries (w/ Eric Deutsch & Magnus Palmblad)
