Well the data on the encrypted portion is lost if you can not find the key file,
you could pray to a deity of your choosing for the file being in the yet unencrypted portion
and try some recovery tool to find it.

Stellar recovery tool was able to recover some files , but most were corrupted, how different is this tool and bitlocker?

even with the key is it possible to open the tool as its installed in the encrypted HDD? if the program is installed in another drive?

Its very different to bitlocker,
it does not mater where the program is installed.
You need to have it set up in the running OS and you can try to mount any volume for which you have the key material.

Your core issue is to try to retrieve the key file if its still there unencrypted, if its in the already encrypted portion and you don't have a backup than all is lost.
