Another cool direction you could go with this would be for a caching proxy, like polipo and squid-like HTTPS bumping.

Hmm... caching is tricky question, but I'll see if I'll be able to make simple caching strategy for this example

I'm pretty sure polipo pretty much made a directory per-site and saved each resource in a mirror directory structure. This issue has some useful links about HTTP caching gdamjan/http-server-rs#7
