How to best guide researchers in documenting their ENCORE project?

ENCORE includes a range of pre-defined files that should be used to document the different aspects of a project. The README files provide some background information and instructions, but also a minimal template. However, their might be better approaches to guide the researchers in providing sufficient documentation. For example, a simple application that the researcher can execute (at the start of the project) to provide specific parts of the documentation.
