I think this could be really good as an alternative to splitting long toots when crossposting to Twitter.
Crossposter says "Any toot bigger than 280 characters will be posted with a link to the original toot. (Be careful, if you post your private toots, your followers might not be able to see the original post!)"
I think I like this approach more than splitting long toots because my goal with staying on Twitter is to promote Mastodon, so linking to Mastodon seems like a feature.
Also, no automated splitting will look as good on Twitter as manually composing a Twitter thread.
But perhaps I should make this a separate issue, since this is about only posting a link to the original Mastodon post when the toot is longer than 280 characters?
