Summary

Pretty odd, this one.

I use Apple Music and Firefox for different media, and I've noticed that sometimes their volumes will be applied in reverse, inconsistently, based on the apps I've been using. This is a pretty recent issue, so it may not be EarTrumpet's problem specifically, but it's a very curious one!

Basically, when switching between two apps, I've noticed that EarTrumpet will apparently mix up their volumes, setting multiple apps' volumes even though I'm only modifying the volume of a specific app.

I'm using Voicemeeter, though I'm not sure if that's relevant. I've attached my troubleshooting data below, either way.

tmp55BF.tmp.txt

It's a weird one for sure. Thanks for your help!

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open Firefox and Apple Music.
  2. Set Firefox's EarTrumpet volume to 8, and watch some videos.
  3. Set Apple Music's EarTrumpet volume to 100, and the in-app volume to 5, and listen to some music for a while, pausing it before continuing.
  4. Return to Firefox by clicking on a link to a YT Short, and get blasted by full-volume audio.
  5. Open EarTrumpet and note that Firefox's volume is still set to 8, and that raising or lowering the volume by scrolling correctly applies that volume to Firefox.
  6. Finish watching the Short and return to Apple Music, which is now playing super quietly, having apparently inherited Firefox's EarTrumpet volume.

EarTrumpet version

2.3.0.0 (Installed from the Microsoft Store)

Windows version

10.0.26100.3915

I've noticed that this sometimes happens between songs, and is sometimes fixed by pressing the Windows key on my keyboard, so perhaps this is more complex than even I initially thought.
