There are tons of soundfonts available but in Linux there do not appear to be many tools that allow users to test many soundfonts out efficiently to be able to determine which ones are worth using.
One tool I was looking for is a GUI based application that could act almost like a file manager with columns for displaying data about soundfont files. This could give users the ability to get some information about soundfonts without having to open and test each file one at a time.
As far as I know, nothing like this exists in Linux.
Polyphone is the only GUI based application that I can think of but does not contain this. Being that there are no other GUI applications, (not as convenient) but the only other approach I can think of is maybe a command line/API based application to generate this text data.
I was wondering if there would be any interest in adding this feature into Fluidsynth which would generate some information/data about file.
I will post a list of information examples that this could generate in post below this one.
Could be added into the command line for example as an Option....
I for "info" or "D" for data
and then each data line mentioned (in post below) could be assigned to a letter within that option, and the information generated would be a list in order those letters.
I can share a little more information but will not really matter if there is no interest in the idea, so I will wait and see.
Thank you to anyone who reads this
