Updating
This application allows you to check for new updates through the program's Releases page hosted on GitHub. To do so, simply press the 'U' key from the Main Menu. When you check for updates, PSCAT will automatically redirect you to the Releases page and display basic information about the current version of the program, such as:
-
Program Name
- Name of the application
-
Program Version
- The current version of the application
-
Version Released Date
- The date in which the build was officially released
This information is provided to help you easily compare different builds on the Releases page.
Within the Releases page, it will contain two build types:
-
Production Builds
Production Builds are stable releases designed for the majority of users who expect the software to "just work." -
Developmental Builds
Developmental Builds include new changes and potential bug fixes, but they may also contain bugs, experimental features, or causes issues. Use these builds at your own risk!
When installing a new version of the PowerShell Compact-Archive Tool, it is recommended to first uninstall the previous version using the Uninstaller found in 'Programs and Features' within the Windows Control Panel. This ensures that all old PSCAT program files are safely removed. By doing so, you'll have the latest files installed and avoid any unnecessary clutter from outdated files that may no longer be in use.
Do note that this project is no longer in evolution nor maintained development cycle anymore. Thus, meaning, no new features or bug fixes will be submitted into this project anymore.
