It's the 1st year anniversary + 1 day since the Re:Literature Club! The Doki Doki Virus scripted fanfiction series was first being published and the 2nd year anniversary + 1 day since I started writing that fanfiction series. I made a teaser announcement on this project yesterday and I feel like I may regret it but I'll try to do as much as I can until I give up or somehow complete this.

Changelog

  • Wrote more dialogs from Chapter 1: Tuesday until the end of Monika's dialog.
  • Added a circular, blurry static/noisy animated foreground for the mysterious scene. I may later make some other adjustments for that scene but probably not any time soon.
  • Made a few other fixes.

Future features may/will include:

  • Unlockable character routes. Unlocked routes will be saved on the persistent file. [Haven't tested but may be possible.]
  • Drawing expressions/poses for the main character and other possible new characters (I won't waste my time doing that any time soon). For now, one drawing for every coded expression/pose.
  • Moving files automatically while playing the game. [Possible but probably not possible if I were to archive all files in Ren'Py archives]
  • And more...

Instructions

  1. Download the source code that you can download and extract with your operating system.
  2. Extract the game folder from the source code's archive folder with a ZIP extracting program such as WinRAR, 7-Zip, etc., and overwrite a vanilla ("not-modded") copy of Doki Doki Literature Club!'s game folder.
  3. Run ddlc.exe.

Changelog

This is still an experimental build but new features and scripts were added:
  • Expanded Chapter 1's script by quite a bit. (Halfway through Chapter 1) The script currently ends on the dialogue "And why don't you want to say..."
  • Removed character limits when naming yourself (main character) at the start of the game.
  • Fixed the location of main menu character images.
  • Added a custom song and a sound effect (may change later).
  • Changed "Help" to "Controls" and hid unnecessary keyboard/controller descriptions. Also included some Xbox button images that I made.
  • Moved some files. If you are updating from a previous update, don't; just place this over a new DDLC directory.
  • Added a custom textbox for the mysterious scene.
  • Some script fixes including character layer order, minor grammar fixes, etc.

Some features that are trying to be implemented are still being worked on including:

  • Images/animations for the first mysterious segment (EDIT: Added something for v0.1.28 pre-alpha release) but I may change the script for it and come up with something different.

Future features may/will include:

  • Enabled Gamepad Support!
  • Added placeholder images. For now for each new character until expressions/poses are drawn, one placeholder image will be used for all expressions/images.

An early test demo of Re:Literature Club! The Doki Doki Virus. It only lasts until a few script dialogue after the "End?" custom scene. This build was meant to test my skills as a new modder. But I have no guarantees if I will ever finish this mod.
