TiddlyDesktop by default has an extremely chatty connection to a Google spell-check API. As a result, according to the OP:

I cannot even open a wiki when I completely disable network access. The application just hangs.

I'm not a user of TiddlyDesktop, but got involved in a discussion via a Mastodon thread (hat tip: Mark_S.)

@Jermolene --- IMO this one should be fixed soon. Is it possible to start NW.exe with command line parameters instead of hardcoding the spell-checker

It seems the spell checker has been activated with commit 5458372

I, for one, do use TiddlyDesktop as a project manager because it can open any kind of local file in whichever (local) app I want it to. If there is any way to turn off spell-checking (and Google snooping) I would like to know how to do it. Thanks.
