I ran a quick query just to check, and the value in each block for ethereum.transactions and ethereum.traces do not match, the value for transactions was always more, cross checked with gas fee accounting, and it's not there either.
Further reading lead me to this article,
It seems that internal calls at the smart contract levels, trigger further conditional transactions that we label as traces (call, create, suicide)? Not sure if I am phrasing that correctly.
But in simple words, there is a subset of value transfers which is not being accounted for in the transaction table but that should be accounted in the traces table.
However should the sum of value in traces be higher for traces in the same block? Grateful if you could shed some light.
