Is there a setupNodeEvents hook for when a specific test (it) starts?

It looks like before:spec is only called once for each spec file, not for each test.

Are you wanting to run code before a specific test within a spec file which contains multiple tests, or before each test within a spec file?

For the latter case, Cypress provides Hooks for running code before a spec file is run, or before each test in the spec file is run: before(() => {}) and beforeEach(() => {}) respectively.

For the former case, I would achieve that by simply making the code a part of my test as part of the "Arrange" step in the Arrange-Act-Assert test writing pattern.

I'm specifically looking to run some code in cypress's node process before each test in every spec file.

I could achieve that by adding beforeEach(() => cy.task(...)) to every spec file, but I was hoping there is a way to do it in setupNodeEvents. We have on('before:spec') but I don't see on('before:test'), unless I'm missing something.

Okay, I understand now. You could try putting your beforeEach(() => cy.task(...)) hook in a Support File.
