The first few months of the new administration have brought significant changes to NIH and other HHS scientific funding. I created RePORTER reporter to track and visualize these changes. What was initially a simple plot of grants awarded in 2025 compared to previous years has grown to include data from multiple sources. I welcome feedback and corrections if you find any mistakes!
NIH RePORTER has information on all grants and contracts funded by NIH. These plots compare cumulative funding in the current year to the past 9 years through today's date. RePORTER updates late every Sunday.
Under the Federal Advisory Committee Act study sections that review NIH grants need to be announced in the Federal Register at least 15 days before the study section meets. I parsed the meetings from Federal Register notices and created plots comparing the current year to the previous nine years.
The Health and Human Services Tracking Accountability in Government Grants System (TAGGS) website has a link to a PDF of awards that have been terminated. The PDF is not easy to explore and does not contain context (e.g,. investigators, keywords) that may be useful for analysis.
