#659 moved to JSON as it's much faster for mobile devices to process compared to XML. Clients are also written in JavaScript, which have much nicer syntax for dealing with JSON than XML.

This ticket is to deprecate XML-based chat clients. Doing so will probably cause a significant portion of users to leave and never come back though, so I'm procrastincating this ticket.
