Steps to reproduce

After Element updated from 1.11.93 to 1.11.94 yesterday, several people in my organization had the problem that Element isn't starting anymore. Nothing happens.

OS: Windows 11 Education 23H2 up-to-date

Outcome

We solved it by installing 1.11.93 again. It appears that 1.11.94 is containing a bug, because now I'm not able to update to 1.11.94 anymore.

Yes, it might be nice to pull that update from the site? As we also had it for a few in our team.

Installing this: https://packages.element.io/desktop/install/win32/x64/Element%20Setup%201.11.92.exe solved it again (and then: don't click the update element button)

Same here with Win 11 22H2... Should we re-install the previous version?

Installing Element manually again (I used 1.11.93 setup on affected systems) solved it for me.

This is a massive problem and you need to take that update down. Imagine people using Element with non-technical family members who suddenly install an update and Element does not restart. The only fallback option is picking up a phone or similar, if you usually use Element as the main communication method...

Even as a technical person I had to spend some time trying to figure out WTF is wrong, since there were no useful log files containing an error related to this either.

Please go here: element-hq/element-desktop#2161

They already took the update down.

Thanks for all your comments, reinstalling the previous version also worked for me!
