mu4e-alert stopped working since last release of mu-mu4e (1.5.8)

As the title suggests, I get an error from mu4e-alert since the last mu update.

Invoking "M-x mu4e-alert-enable-mode-line-display" I get the error:

error in process sentinel: mu4e-alert--parse-mails: Invalid read syntax: ") or . in a vector"

Do you have any suggestions/workarounds?

The fix in the linked issue is working fine on my system.
Are you seeing the same error as described in this issue?
You should also include how you installed mu/mu4e and their versions if possible.
