I have the same issue with iCloud and Longform. Add a scene on Mac, then open on iOS, and the index file misses the new files. It seems that the iOS index file takes precedent over the Mac version even though it's an earlier version. Did not find a workaround for this yet, which means manually re-adding and sorting the scenes. However, with iCloud there is a file history, and you can restore the file to the correct version. |
I have moved my vault into an area that’s not connected to iCloud to see if that would solve the Index problem, and I still have the same issue. Everytime I shut down obsidian, I come back to my longform files disorganized. I hope there is a solution to this? |
This happens to me when I make edits on my work computer and come back to my personal computer and find new files missing or out of order. |
This fix is a decent workaround, but it is a lot of extra work as this sync issue happens every time there is an additional device involved. And managing the version history on Mac is a tedious process.

This happens to me when I make edits on my work computer and come back to
my personal computer and find new files missing or out of order.
This happens because your local version (in my case, my personal computer
version) overwrote all the changes I made to the index file on my work
computer.
There's an easy fix. Go to the index file in the left sidebar, right click
it and click "Open version history". Locate the version with the correct
change (in my case, the work computer version) and restore that.

I am having a similar issue as above (syncing with Obsidian). I can see in the version history that my work computer is reverting the index file back and so none of the changes are staying in place. The above fix works but is frustrating. Why isn't the index file syncing like all the other files? I don't have this issue with other files which seem to be updating just fine on both computers |
Versions
Longform version: 2.07
Obsidian version: (all recent versions for the last 3 months, currently 1.7.5)
OS: Mac OS Sonoma 14.5 & iPhone iOS 17.6.1
Theme: Atom
Syncing with iCloud
Describe the bug
I am using Longform to write a book. However, if I make an edit on my phone to a file indexed by Longform, the file is removed from desktop longform. I am left with hundreds of files to re-add to the book project. They are all entirely out of order, so I'm not sure what to do.
I tried reordering the files back to their original position, but when I make any edit on my phone (even to other files) the order is deleted again.
Honestly, I was loving longform and really getting in the flow of writing my book with it, but have entirely stopped because my index is out of order every time I return. Any fix would be much appreciated :)
Note that the multi-level indexing on mobile also fails to work. The hierarchy between scene levels is removed on mobile, so perhaps this is causing the desktop version to think that they are new files being indexed?
To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
Use longform on my desktop. Make a mobile edit to a file that's indexed in longform. Return to desktop to see that the files are now out of order again.
