Current behaviour

So I exported all my notes into a jex file, then I imported them again and OCR was not working.

Reproduce Bug

  1. create a new profile
  2. create a note and insert an image
  3. activate OCR and test it (it works)
  4. export everything with File -> export all -> JEX
  5. deleted everything
  6. imported the JEX file
  7. try OCR (doesn't work)

Are you saying that the OCR data from the existing image is no longer available after import, or do you mean any new attachments do not create any OCR data anymore?

I tried it out and it seems like the text of new images is found by search, the old ones generally don't. But at one instance, if I updated the note with an old image, OCR data was again found by search, and at another example it was still not found after updating the note. So kinda weird behaviour.

I wouldn't say OCR data isn't available. It is just that it cannot be found by search. Because if I right-click on the image, I can see it's OCR text, but I can't find it with search.

It may be that it needs to re-index after an import. There is a fix search index option on Android, though not sure where there is an equivalent option desktop. I can find a clear OCR cache option in the options screen under advanced settings on desktop though, you could try that

I tried that but didn't help. Isn't that to clear the language file only?
