progress is slow and only jumps from time to time

The progression while uploading files seems to keep stuck for long times, sometimes multiple minutes, and then suddenly jumps on for multiple files (around 10).  All in all its pretty slow even when network connection is good. Compared with running restic in same network on same repo but on desktop it is much slower. 

Is there a known issue? Is there a way to debug this?
