HID device appear in Windows Device Manager but not listed by hidapitester

Hello, I came across a case where a HID-compatible device is not discovered by 'hidapitester' v0.5, even though it appears in the Windows Device Manager under Human Interface Devices. It is neither a mouse nor keyboard, and it does not appear under those Device Manager categories. The computer is a Windows Laptop running Windows 11 Pro.

I wonder if anyone has experience with this kind of situation and share how to start troubleshooting this. Thanks.

This is an interesting case. Is it a USB device?

In that case, I advice to take a UsbTreeView tool and check what is the device descriptor structure (the way Windows sees it) first, to understand what is going on.

You need to look at the top-level (Port3) for details on the USB interface you're interested in, and verify its interface class is HID class and that the HID Descriptor is present, here is an example of my Logitech BRIO:

Thanks for the feedback I will request further details to look into it. Meanwhile, I have been spotting the differences between 'good' and 'bad' case too. One difference I noticed that the driver for the HID endpoint is handled by 'Virtual HID Minidriver Collection', rather than 'HID-compliant vendor-defined device'. Do you think that could be a reason why it is not recognized by hidapi?

What is the output of hidtest? I assume it also cannot find the device, right?
