its not like linux mint is"user friendly"."works out of box"
qt problem is serious, after 22 there is no qt5ct out of the box and most kde programms use light theme with white font and that is really bad
i dont think casual user will gonna do all this that i did but i installed qt5ct then trying to fix it with this(https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?p=2500291#p2500291), this(https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?p=2500265&hilit=qt5+settings#p2500265) and this(https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?p=2593188#p2593188)
and i still cant get at least readable interface(see the picture)

Steps to reproduce

1.clean install linux mint
2.install some kde app
3.watch all this

Expected behavior

at least give default breeze interface with light and dark mode

there is no qt5ct out of the box

Qt 5 is virtually EOL so you would need to use qt6ct as a minimum. Other tools and components that support theming Qt-based applications are also out of date for now until they are updated upstream.

The correct URL is https://github.com/ilya-fedin/qt6ct.

You should be able to install Kvantum (beware that this is one of the tools that is out of date in the upstream repositories). Out of the box, qt6ct should have settings for a dark mode though. Is that not working? Can you share either your configuration or what you see in the dialog?

gwenview

Is this installed via apt or Flatpak? If it is the latter, there will be a few extra steps involved. It's also worth calling out that this is an application meant to run on KDE so having certain components not function the same would be unfortunate but expected.
