Image gallery sometimes becomes unselectable after scrolling

As title says -- sometimes after scrolling the gallery view I cannot click on images to pick them, and the highlight effect when hovering with the cursor also does not happen.

It can be resolved by kind of scrolling back and forth a bit. FWIW, does not seem to be a kinetic scrolling issue as it can still occur when scrolling slowly with no glide, but perhaps it is nonetheless noteworthy that I am using a trackpad.
