Maybe increase to 16 vals? This might be a good start: https://github.com/chriskempson/base16

Perhaps it would be good to define roles for colours, rather than a number of set values. e.g.

\palette{INFO1}{\workingdir}
\ifexpr{\isrealpath}{}{\space\palette{WARN}{(!)}}
  • DEFAULT
  • SUCCESS
  • ERROR
  • WARN
  • INFO1
  • INFO2
  • INFO3
  • CLEAN
  • DIRTY
  • TRIVIAL
  • QUIET
  • BRIGHT
  • DIM
  • VERYDIM
