This fate awaits any software that is forced upon you. Serves them right, they deserve it 😊 |
Unfortunately I imagine so. |
Meanwhile, I'll fork it |
Ooh! You too? |
Yes, makes sense if everyone collaborate in the same fork. I am forking for now as a backup, bacause I contributed last year and I still have my heart on it |
I've gone ahead and invited you 🙂 |
It was useful, they had no choice to pull the plug. |
If it were genuinely useful, they wouldn't have had to forcefully reinstall it on machines where the user intentionally removed it. I've asked around my dev friends circle and exactly zero people use it, the responses summed up about 50/50 between "What?" and "I removed that garbage because I didn't install it". I'm a paying OneDrive user, but in the process of dumping it as well, simply because they're pushing it on people who don't want it (using a dark-UI pattern to trick users into "consenting" to uploading their data). As soon as a company wants something too badly, it's time for the users to step back and consider why. It is a shame that corporations can't just make a product people want, but this is the world we live in. I'll be keeping DevHome in my PowerShell cleanup script just in case they decide to revive it and start pushing it to my machine again. |
Why is Dev Home being deprecated and will it be removed from a future Windows 11 Update
