Cannot install extension, ms-python.python extension not available for linux-x64

Installing ms-python.python from dev container fails with

VS Code offers to download extension manually, but that ends up with

We don't use platform-specific VSIXs, so I'm not sure what you're using to get that JSON payload you're sharing that claims we lack specific platform support. If you want to download the extension manually you can follow the instructions at #20184 .
