Opening webcam makes Shotcut crash #844
Comments
It works for me on all my computers and devices. Please do a couple of things, please. In a command window, send the output of Also, start Shotcut, choose View > Application Log... and send the output. You can also test it with ffplay from FFmpeg using something like If you have not already tested this... please try with nothing loaded in Shotcut yet, change Settings > Video Mode to something other than automatic. |
The ffmpeg parts work perfectly.
And Application Log (doesn’t look to contain anything useful)
Setting Video Mode to something other than Automatic doesn’t help. |

I can reproduce this crash on Arch Linux with shotcut-linux-x86_64-210518.AppImage |
Windows 10 (version 2004, build 19041.172), Shotcut 20.02.17, 64-bit.
Hardware: Surface Book with NVIDIA GPU (which Shotcut seems to detect and use—I think it’s the first piece of software I’ve had do that of its own volition).
Steps to reproduce:
What happens: the webcam light goes on, then a second or so later Shotcut dies (and the light goes off again).
Details of the crash from Event Viewer:
That’s a fairly generic crash signature.

I’m willing to help out by running it in some way to emit debug info or run a special build, but I’m not willing to compile any code or run it in a debugger. (This offer is valid for a few days only—after that I’ll uninstall Shotcut as unfortunately unusable for what I desire.)
