Changing wallpaper doesnt change theme

Whenever I changed the wallpaper, the waybar and terminal used to change, but now it doesnt?

You can check if pywal was installed successfully, if it is try to do hyprctl -reload after you changed the wallpaper.

I have the same behavior and also it does appear that hyrpctl -reload does not seem to function

yep me too. After I updated the ml4w files through the waybar icon I've had this problem: colors in waybar and in terminal not changing.

Can you make sure that you run ml4w-hyprland-setup after the update, reboot. Check that a light theme for waybar is selected. Then change the wallpaper. The color changes can be very low. Please check also rofi.

I re-did the setup and the color problem stayed for Alacritty, it doesn't change

The waybar in light mode seems to change a little bit with the wallpaper, but in the previous configuration it changed much more, not only in the inside colors, but also on the main one (which now stays white with any wallpaper): is this normal?

Instead, Rofi luckily is working well as before.

I double checked if nothing at all changes, or some do. I can confirm Rofi and waybar does. Only one it does not it is the Kitty terminal. I also see the border change color when I change the wallpaper.

Sure, these two images differ only for the wallpaper. As you can see the waybar "main" color is always white, while the "secondary" changes accordingly to the wallpaper. The terminal, instead, stays the same.

I just noticed I chose two dark wallpapers and the difference in the waybar is difficult to notice, so here's a third image:

Ok. I can see the generated color theme clearly in waybar. It’s the highlight color and the light colorbare coming from the wallpaper generated by matugen. I am working on an optimized kitty theme right now.

Thanks to the all-knowing chat-gpt I foun a solution to my problem:
in the wallpaper.sh script in the hyprland config I added, after the "execute matugen" part, the following segment:

if command -v wal >/dev/null 2>&1; then
echo ":: Applying wal with $used_wallpaper"
wal -i "$used_wallpaper" > /dev/null 2>&1 &
disown
fi

Now my terminal changes colors accordingly to the wallpaper colors

A quick update, I don't know if this is of any help but, when I use the command

wal -i name_of_wallpaper.jpeg

The alacritty/kitty colors adapt perfectly. I have no idea how this works honestly

wal is pywal. And pywal is an archived project. That's the reason why I have switched to matugen.

Oh okay I see. Unfortunately, apparently Matugen, isn't working for my terminal since the color don't change so for now I will have to stay with this. I will see if I can solve this another way with matugen then. Thank you for the clarification

Yes. This works. But I have switched to matugen because pywal isn't supported anymore. I will add an optimized color theme for kitty soon.
