Watering

Theory

All plants are growing in the hydroponic system. Instead of soil, each pot contains a neutral substrate (clay granules). Since the clay substrate has no nutrients, they must be added with water.

Every pot has a water level indicator with MIN and MAX labels. Red stick inside the indicator floats on the water surface inside the pot.

When watering, mix tap water and nutrients according to the instructions on the bottle. You can occasionally water without nutrients (e.g. if water indicator is low and there is no time to prepare the solution).

Let the water level drop from MAX to MIN between waterings. Plants will consume a stale solution from the bottom of the pot.

Practice

  • wait until water level drops to MIN
  • take the black 5 L canister
  • add 20 mL of Seramis nutrients into the canister; Seramis bottle has a transparent 5 mL cap inside it
  • fill the canister with 4 L of tap water
  • add solution to the pot until water level rises to MAX

Depending on the pot size, watering interval will be between 3 days and 3 weeks. Check small plants at least twice a weak.
