It's very common problem this time of year. Your temp sensor is too close to equipment (ie pump). |

Thanks for the quick response. Yes this is what I have been doing, setting the temperature lower and once the instability happens set it higher. The interesting thing is that this behavior only happens when the temperature is changing close to the freeze protection trigger temperature. If the system is in service mode and the trigger temperature is 38 and the air sensor sees 36 it starts immediately. If I use a glass with iced water that keeps the temperature steady it also starts immediately. I suspect this has to do with the irrational readings. |

Some of the screw terminals on the board (like the RS485) are actually removable, can’t remember if the temp sensor is like that, but it might be worth pulling it off and checking for corrosion. Also some boards have 3 temp sensor terminals, so you may have an option of using another set or terminals. |

The sensor screw terminal is indeed removable. I removed it a couple of times but I didn't see any corrosion on the pins, unless there is something messed up on the back side of the board that I can't see. The board has 3 temp sensor terminals Air/Freeze Protection, Water, and Solar. But I don't think they are interchangeable, at least not according to the manual. |

I've gone over your log in detail, and really can't see anything AqualinkD is doing strange, or why the Panel would be changing the device status from any RS458 input. This pretty much repeats itself. So AqualinkD is not sending anything unusual, simply conformation messages. AqualinkD is not asking the panel to change state of any device, and neither is anything else on the RE485 bus. So looks like something funky with your panel. |

Thanks for taking the time to check. I also feel it’s the panel that is acting up, something is wrong there, associated with freeze protection and the air temperature readings, everything else works as intended. Just to be sure that we are on the same page, by panel you mean the outside power control panel, not the all-button control panel that is in the house, right? |

I'm fighting air temp sensor issues myself. Here is a good reference https://www.troublefreepool.com/wiki/index.php?title=Temperature_Sensors#Standard_10K_Thermistors I use openweathermap plugin to openhab and graphed the air temp vs. temp from weather stations close to me and you can see the divergence. I was assuming that it was a problem with sunlight hitting the sensor and making it warmer than it should be.

Hey guys,
I am experiencing this very weird behavior of the Jandy air temperature sensor, it cannot settle on a temperature, it keeps bouncing around +/-1F (see the attached log). The sensor is new and when I measured its resistance manually with a multimeter it is stable and has the right value. I am trying to rule out the possibility of AqualinkD somehow messing with the pool controller. Anyone experienced anything like this before?
It is very annoying during the winter because it causes freeze protection to misfire and constantly turning on/off the pumps which is dangerous.
