[OLD] Help test a new M³ version!

Dear M³ users, I have been working on a new and improved version of M³ for a while now (in collaboration with @sircharlo) and it is in the final stages of development. It will greatly improve the behind-the-scenes structure of the application, making it much easier to fix issues, improve functionalities and add new features. One of the anticipated new features in this version is obs-websocket v5 support. We could really use your help to get this new version to the finish line. If you are willing and have the time, please test the new version on your own machines and let us know what you think of it! It's available at mtdvlpr/meeting-media-manager.

Please note: the new version migrates your preferences to a new format, so be careful when connecting it to your cong server or when going back to a current version of M³.

A beta release is now available! Why is it beta? Simply, because I feel like this version has reached a level of maturity and stability where there are far fewer bugs and major and/or breaking changes. This has only been possible, because of all the awesome testers out there. Thank you all very much for helping me create a new and improved version of M³!

Also, I want to call upon all translators to also translate the new phrases in this new version. If you are willing to help translate this version prior to the official release, please leave a comment with the languages you can translate. Thank you in advance!

@e-Feitosa, thank you for your extensive testing! What I did already is also calculate if the shortened obs scenes have enough space and if they don't, the dropdown is shown. This solves the issue of not being able to scroll to the last media item. I will definitely try out your suggestions to see if the design van be improved further. I have also been busy trying to stop the scrollbar from taking the full height and I managed to fix that too, so even more space to utilize!

The first suggestion is definitely possible. The second I'm not so sure. I don't think that's configurable, but I will do some research!

@mtdvlpr Wow you're on fire! I'm still unfortunately very much tied up on my end, but may I propose giving you write access to my repo, so that you can start the process of releasing the new version of M3 into the wild?

It seems that most glaring issues or bugs have been weeded out now, and that any remaining minor glitches that are discovered can be handled in due time. What do you think?

Definitely! If you're comfortable enough with the current beta I'm happy to release it officially for you (and update the docs site while I'm at it). I will of course continue to be available for maintenance and development. In the meantime you can focus on getting familiar with the new codebase and tech stack. I will probably officially release it somewhere next week, since I just released a new beta version. I will focus on adding more tests this week to ensure core functionality stays working.

Perfect! Yeah, no rush. My priority would be for the update flow to be seamless for congregations still using the latest version (pre-refactor). Wouldn't want an update to cause issues or stress to anyone before a meeting 😋

@sircharlo, I have pushed the new docs branch. It's ready to replace the current documentation site. I don't have permission to change those settings, so you can change the branch where the github-pages will release from whenever you're ready :)

Nice! As you can see, it has it's own list of locales that can be translated. I have made an issue at gitlocalize, because they currently don't allow to have a project for multiple branches of the same repo. What I would suggest is using my forked repo as a gitlocalize project for the docs and every now and then create a PR to get the translations to this docs branch in the meantime.

The sound operators here have asked me if it would be possible to have the same pause function that they have in the videos on the images, this feature would be useful in the study of The Watchtower, where it considers one image in several paragraphs.

@mtdvlpr I have downloaded the new version and am testing it, so far everything is working. Just an observation, I had some test congregations, in one always appeared an error message that could not connect the OBS Studio, but worked normally, then I removed the test congregation, and the other test congregations worked normally. No error so far. And thank you very much for adding the requested resources. They are excellent indeed.

From what I can tell, the error is because your configured camera scene in settings doesn't exist anymore (GERAL PALCO). Does changing that fix the issue?

Dear @sircharlo, I have released the new version of M³. This requires some changes to be executed by you. First of all: The gitLocalize repo should be reconfigured, because the locales have been moved to a new location (under settings all /locales/ should be changed to /src/renderer/locales/). Another thing I would recommend changing in the GitHub settings is the protected branch rules. I would recommend setting the following options:

It might be a good solution to recreate the gitlocalize project. Before you do this, check if there are any open review requests (those mean that the moderator translated the phrases on gitlocalize but hasn't made a pr on github yet).

Auto update does not seem to be working.

Seems like the auto-updater runs for a bit after closing the old version of M3, but then it just exits, and the old version is still installed.

Oh, i see. I had to unpin the old app from my taskbar. It seems like the old version of the app still lives somewhere even after the new version is installed. In any case, after unpinning and repinning the app, the new version is what launches.

Idea: hide/show picture on Zoom should only be visible if the OBS integration is active and connected.

I also want to investigate 2 proposed features that were implemented before that might have been lost during the migration. I propose to release v22.10.0 next week, same time. Then the version matches with the month again.

A good idea! Something like one of these two icons perhaps:

I'm not sure such a label/icon is appropiate. I feel like if the name is clear enough, then you can decide whether to enable it or not. It's not like the option is only allowed for sign language. It just has a specific use case, like convert to mp4 is specific for Zoom only meetings. People are free to use them for other means. But that's just my opinion. Eventually it's up to the big boss (@sircharlo) ;)

One thing I really dislike is the music shuffle button. Look at the following video:

1. Initial state (teal, music shuffle icons) [0:11]
2. Click to confirm play (yellow, music shuffle icons) [0:00]

4. Loaded but metadata not loaded (teal, music shuffle icons) [0:01]
5. File loaded, loading metadata (yellow, stop icon) [0:01]
6. Started playing (yellow, stop icon, time remaining) [0:02]
7. Click to confirm stop (red, stop icon) [0:07]
8. Stopping (yellow, spinner) [0:09]

Would it be possible to:

• make the button fixed-width, to prevent it from changing sizes repeatedly
• get rid of states 4 and 5
