Not sure where else to ask this...

I am really enjoying your VyNil plugin and was hoping you could explain what the 'Year' parameter is actually doing to the sound?

Thank you

Hi,

There's different noise / distortion models, and as you move the age value nearer to 2000 it reduces the effect at different rates.

There's a low pass filter, a stereo image reducer, clicks and pops, modelling for non-flatness of the record, and some wow/flutter.

I roughly copied what recordings from record players of different eras sounded like, but it's not very scientific!

Cheers,
Steve

Oh, there's some distortion too, record players introduce quite a bit of harmonic distortion.
