The Backlog task force has been requested to review the label in name algorithm proposed by the ACT Rules task force.

This is a placeholder issue for tracking, since the PR exists in a separate GitHub organization.

From the call, I think a reference we want to compare against is 4.3 Text Equivalent Computation.

Instead of 4.3, should the ACT cite instead be to 4.3.2 Computational Steps or older accessible name and description computation? Unfortunately, the anchor/bookmark names have changed between 1.1 and 1.2.

FWIW, I submitted an issue for a typo about this.

Discussed on Backlog call 4/25. Our TF has to wait on feedback currently in ACT PR to be addressed before we might provide more input. See, for example, comment from detlev where he concludes (and other TF members agree):

Not sure how to include this in the algorithm though.

The best we can do is to recommend ACT iterate on this more before sending to AG.

Following facilitators meeting, I reopened and moved from Done to For Discussion. As noted in minutes from backlog call we have comments from TF members which are not being substantively engaged with.

As mentioned on TF call, from ACT PR creator:

I'd like to thank everyone for the comments in recent weeks. Unfortunately I have been too occupied with other work to respond to them. I hope to have time in late May.
